OVERALL OPERATION
Running an Exercise
- Select an execise from the list (turns green)
- Start the exercise in demonstration mode (the hand is played for you) or play mode (you play the cards and you are told of any misdemeanors)
- Progress through the exercise:
- By clicking on the table in demo mode
- By clicking on a card in hand or a played card in play mode
Using the Control Buttons
Start again to select a different hand.
Play compete bidding and tricks without pausing.
Play bids and cards individually.
Go to previous hand.
Go to next hand.
Replay hand in the same mode. Use to change mode.
Select and display hand metrics.

Made by the bidder prior to any jump bid. Next player must wait 10 seconds before bidding.
Made by the bidder's partner to inform the opponents that the bid is artificial.
Spoken by the bidder's partner to inform the opponents of the bid's meaning under certain conditions. Eg, a 1NT opening is announced as "12 to 14".
Quick Start
- A selection of hands are presented that demonstrate various aspects of bidding, how leads may be interpreted, useful declarer play techniques and how the defence may be able to frustrate declarer. Hands will not necessarily show all these aspects at one time but will focus on the relevant subject matter.
- A hand can be viewed in 'demo' mode which shows the bidding and card play with a commentary on the key points. Alternatively, the hand can be 'played' where the contract is provided and the user can practice the techniques seen in the demonstration.
- When the traffic light is green, progress through each hand by clicking anywhere on the table in demo mode or (more usually) on a card in play mode. A red light shows that play is continuing automatically and will turn green when finished.
- When play starts in a suit contract, the trump suit is moved to the left for NS and top for EW.
- Here are some commonly used controls:
Top-left:Start again to select a different hand.
Bottom-right:
Load a new hand – previous, next or replay.
Near bottom-left:
An indicator – Red: wait. Green: ready.
